  • Washington State Employment Security Department primarily suggests that you use the  Online Unemployment Insurance Application. There are one or two exceptions to this. Most notably you will want to remember that you can’t apply for the EUC that is the Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) from the online site.
To apply for EUC you are required to fill out  a paper application. For this purpose you can use the phone or walk into any WorkSource office. One will be mailed to you if you telephone at  1-877-558-8509, however bear in mind that you must either deliver it by hand or mail it back, so allow for some time.

To file online for regular unemployment, you will go to the website address that is located at https://fortress.wa.gov/esd/uia/icintro/intropage.aspx?lang=en-us Note by the httpS that you are using a secure system. Make sure that the S appears to be sure you’re on the correct site.

If your computer uses any type of pop up blocker you need to disable that to permit your unemployment application to appear and be filled out.

Simple follow the wizard-like format, filling in the information that they require. Whether you file by phone, online or on the telephone the questions are going tob e the same.

Nearly anyone can file online, however you may NOT be able to file your claim over the Internet if you answer “Yes” to any of these questions, you must file by telephone, at 1-800-318-6022

Were you totally disabled for at least 13  weeks from a work-related injury?

Did you work in two or more states?

Did you work in only one state other than Washington?

Regardelss of how you file your claim, you will need this information.

    Your Social Security Number.
The names, business mailing addresses and telephone numbers of employers
The dates you worked for each employer
Approximate gross monthly pay from each employer.

If you would rather file your application by telephone, call the TeleCenter at 1-800-318-6022.

Filing by internet is far more rapid if you qualify. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A HOME COMPUTER… they are available at an internet cafe or at your local libray however.. if you do use a public or shared computing system  finish the application or EXIT and close the browser. Otherwise the next person who uses it will be able to access your information.
